Why Working at Jellystone Park™ is More Than Just a Job

When people ask me what it’s like to work at a Jellystone Park, I usually smile and say, “Well, my co-workers are Yogi Bear™, Boo Boo™, and Cindy Bear™!” And honestly, it’s just as fun as it sounds.

Every weekend here is a little different—whether we’re hosting a glow parade, foam party, or celebrating a themed weekend with guests in costume. There's never a dull moment. But what makes it truly special is not just the fun we plan—it's the joy we help create. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting families from all over the country and even across the world, each one adding their own spark to our park. The laughter, the smiles, the hugs between Yogi and his biggest fans—it’s all magic.

For me, working here goes even deeper. I grew up camping, and some of my most treasured memories are from those simple times around the campfire—playing flashlight tag, biking until sunset, or sitting under the stars with sticky s’mores fingers. Now, as a mom to a 14-year-old and a 9-year-old, I see firsthand how different childhood looks today. Technology is everywhere—and while I’m grateful for the ways it connects us, I also see the importance of disconnecting.

More and more studies are confirming what many of us have always known in our hearts: kids need nature. Time outdoors is more than just fun—it's vital for healthy development. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, unstructured play in nature improves children's physical health, enhances creativity, builds confidence, and even helps with focus and mental well-being. Kids who spend time outside are more likely to develop strong motor skills, emotional resilience, and social bonds. The Child Mind Institute also notes that exposure to green space can reduce anxiety, lower stress, and improve mood and attention—benefits that are especially important in our tech-heavy, fast-paced world.

At Jellystone Park, I get to witness this transformation in real time. Kids arrive a little hesitant to leave their screens behind, but by the end of the weekend, they’re racing their bikes, making crafts with new friends, playing tag, and simply being kids. They're not scrolling—they’re living.

And when kids are allowed to be bored, something magical happens: their imaginations come alive. Boredom breeds creativity, and creativity leads to exploration, laughter, and lifelong memories.

Getting to work at a place that not only encourages this kind of growth but celebrates it is truly a gift. Every day, I feel like I’m part of something meaningful—something that helps families reconnect, children thrive, and joy take center stage.

Not only are Yogi Bear™ and his friends great, but so are all of my amazing co-workers! I am truly blessed to work alongside a team that jumps in to support one another whenever needed — and who are just as excited as I am to help make every guest’s stay a special one. 💛

It takes a village to create the magic here at Rustic Acres Jellystone Park™, and I’m proud to be part of a team that brings the energy, heart, and fun every single day. 🏕️✨

When I was job hunting, I wasn’t just looking for a paycheck. I was looking for purpose. And I found it here, at Jellystone Park, where I get to make a real difference. Because here, we’re not just creating fun weekends—we’re helping build childhoods.
